Considering Giving Up....Dear Dad Day 70

Dear Dad,

It is so easy to give up. Like really, giving up takes zero effort, just a made up mind and discouraged heart. It is much easier to give up as well; simply ceasing to strive towards the goal in mind confirms the decision. Moving forward can be tough, weathering the storm is messy, and climbing up a mountain is both intimidating and tiring. With failure after failure, disappointment after disappointment, coupled with that stabilizing feeling after you have giving it everything you had, logically affirms the decision to give up, turn around, or try something different. But I am reminded when You assured that we will reap if we faint not. The echo of Your voice during our most intimate moments together, whispering “Keep Going” brings me comfort. I find assurance in the ordained victories of my past, knowing that You remain the same. As I feel Your presences around me, and foster Your spirit within, I am comforted in the both the best of times and in the worst of times. When I’m weary I rest at your feet, knowing that the seam of Your garment provides healing for my soul. That the holes in your feet strengthens me to move forward, validating that with You anything is possible.  Weak in faith, full of doubt, afraid of the unknown, and broken hearted I trust You, I place my life in Your hands, and I unremittingly leap into Your arms, trusting You with my finish.

Word on the Go: Galatians 6:9 Ecclesiastes 9:11 1 Corinthians 9: 24-27 Hebrews 12:1

Galatians 6:9
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up

Ecclesiastes 9:11

11 I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

1 Corinthians 9: 24-27

24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified

Hebrews 12: 1

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us

How can I use my hands......Dear Dad Day 68

Dear Dad,

Thank You for teaching me the importance of walking with my hands open. Choosing to only open my hands to receive, negates the purpose of having them. You gave me hands for You to hold and lead me in the right direction. You gave me hands to help, mimicking Your helping hand to help others. You gave me hands for giving. No matter what my circumstances look like, because I am connected to You I can afford to give to others, confident that my Father will supply all me needs. You own a cattle over a thousand hills, You are rich and You bless those who utilize what You gave them for Your glory. I have hands to work; work my job to the best of my ability, which brings You honor. I have hands for healing. You said that I am equipped through faith because of the Holy Spirit, to utilize the spiritual gifts You’ve placed inside me. I have hands to join with others in prayer. Joining forces with others, believing that the promise given will come to pass. Today I am challenged to always walk with my hands open. Not merely to receive but constantly to give. A closed hand cannot be used to its greatest potential because it is limited in its usefulness and rejects assistance. Thank You Father for my hands!

Word on the Go:  1 Corinthians 12:7-9; Hebrews 6: 10; Ephesians 4:28; Psalms 50:10-12

1 Corinthians 12:7-9
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.

Hebrews 6:10
For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

Ephesians 4:28
If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need

Psalms 50:10-12
For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.11 I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine. 12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it.
